The Marvel of Meditation

Science likes meditation. Read this from LiveScience.com:

"When the team compared brain scans from subjects who had more mindful dispositions....they found a stark difference, the mindful subjects experienced greater activation in the right ventrolateral prefrontal cortex and a greater calming effect in the amygdala after labeling their emotions....These findings may help explain the beneficial health effects of mindfulness meditation, and suggest an underlying reason why mindfulness meditation programs improve good health" (David Creswell, UCLA psychologist).

Maxine Fone is a popular and renowned London based meditation teacher and she is running a special course at the Wellbeing Clinic in Marlborough to offer beginners and professionals the opportunity to develop and improve their meditation skills and practice.  The course is unique in that Maxine uses Angelic tuning forks which clear auric fields and help focus, while opening the gateway for spiritual insights and experiences.

So, now that the world of science has given meditation the green light, here are a few of the wonders that it can evoke:
  • Increasing blood flow and slowing the heart rate
  • Creating deeper relaxation
  • Enhancing the immune system
  • Lowering oxygen consumption
  • Slowing or controlling chronic pain
  • Decreasing muscle tension
  • Harmonising the endocrine system
  • Reducing anxiety attacks by lowering blood lactate levels
  • Building self-confidence and self-awareness
  • Increasing serotin levels to positively influence mood and behaviour
  • Improving learning and memory
  • Resolving phobias and fears
  • Slowing the mind ageing rate
  • Increasing perceptual ability and motor performance
  • Positively impacting intelligence growth rate
  • Decreasing potential for mental illness............
 .........and we could go on!
